What changed
  • Every room has its price on the page, for your dates and the total for the stay, so nobody has to ask or go to a booking site.
  • Dates are one sentence, "Arriving Wed 14 Oct for 2 nights", and each window says free or taken, so you know before you write.
  • The five rooms are five windows photographed from the same spot, so you choose by the view instead of reading a wall of 11px grey text.
  • Opens with tonight (what is free, from what price) and a phone number in the first screen on a phone, not in the footer.
  • "Ask for this room" fills in the room and dates for you, and says plainly that booking direct costs less because no commission comes off.
  • Built for a phone first: one thumb moves through the windows, and with JavaScript off it is still five rooms with prices and a phone number.

Breakfast

A scrubbed wooden table by a sash window: two slices of brown bread on a plate, a soft-boiled egg in an egg cup, butter, a jar of marmalade, a speckled stoneware teapot and two cups, with hills outside the window.

Served from 8 to 9.30 in the front room: a full Irish, porridge, or a boiled egg with brown bread baked that morning.

Leaving early for the Greenway? Tell us the night before and we’ll leave a tray out, or pack you a lunch for €9.

Getting here

By car
A few minutes north of Newport, on the road to the lough. Directions
By train
The nearest station is Westport. Tell us your train and we’ll collect you.
By plane
Ireland West Airport Knock is about an hour by car.
By bike
The Greenway runs through Newport. The shed locks, and there’s a hose and a pump.
Dogs
In the Greenway Twin, €10 a night.
Arriving
Check-in 3 to 8pm. Check-out by 11.
